Matthew Gray focuses his practice on estate, tax, and wealth-succession planning for high net worth individuals and families, and provides comprehensive planning strategies for protecting assets in tax-sensitive ways while providing individualized attention to differing family dynamics. Mr. Gray advises clients on the administration of trusts and estates, and works closely with executors and trustees in the prudent discharge of their duties. He also practices in the areas of business formation, operation, and governance, and in real estate and other property transactions.
Mr. Gray is a member of the Board of Directors of the Washoe County Probate Bar Association, and of the Legislative Subcommittee of the Probate and Trusts Section of the Nevada State Bar. His efforts contributed to the enactment of new and updated laws providing individuals and families with superior estate-planning opportunities in Nevada.
Mr. Gray joined the firm in 2004 and works from the Reno office. Before that, he was a clerk for the Honorable Brent Adams in the Second Judicial District Court for the State of Nevada.
Trusts & Estates
Mr. Gray has experience in a variety of areas within estate planning, including traditional wills and living trusts but also including more sophisticated strategies, such as grantor-retained annuity trusts, charitable split-interest trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, life insurance trusts, family-limited partnerships and limited liability companies, foundations, and other charitable planning. He is also experienced in the administration of trusts and estates and often advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries of large trusts and estates.
Business Entities & Transactions
Mr. Gray advises clients in all areas of entity formation, including choice of entity and business and management structures, and identifies and secures state and local licenses. He also advises management and other key individuals on entity operations and governance.
