Mr. Bogden is a partner in the firm practicing primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law and criminal law.
Mr. Bogden grew up in Huron, Ohio, and is a graduate of Huron High School. He
attended Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with majors in Management and Marketing. He attended the University of Toledo College of Law in Toledo, Ohio, where he earned his Juris Doctor. Mr. Bogden is licensed to practice law in the States of Nevada and Ohio.
Before joining McDonald Carano Wilson, LLP, Mr. Bogden began his law career in 1982, while serving as a member of the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Office. He was initially stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada, until 1985, and later served overseas at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Upon leaving the military in 1987, Mr. Bogden became a Deputy District Attorney, prosecuting cases for the Washoe County District Attorney's Office in Reno, Nevada, from 1987 to1990. In1990, he joined the United States Attorney's Office in Reno, Nevada, where he prosecuted cases as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. In 1998, Mr. Bogden was named Chief of the Reno Division of the United States Attorney's Office, managing the office and continuing to prosecute a variety of criminal cases involving organized crime, violent crime and drug crimes. He was nominated by United States Senator John Ensign to be United States Attorney for the District of Nevada and appointed to that position by President George W. Bush. On August 18, 2001, he was sworn in as the Acting United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. On November 2, 2001, following his confirmation by the United States Senate, Mr. Bogden was sworn in by Chief Judge Howard D. McKibben as United States Attorney for the District of Nevada. Mr. Bogden served as the United States Attorney for the District of Nevada until February 28, 2007.
A long-time prosecutor and dedicated public servant, Mr. Bogden has tried over 100 state and federal jury trials and argued numerous cases before the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Under the direction of the United States Attorney General, Mr. Bogden was the chief federal law enforcement officer for the State of Nevada, responsible for prosecuting individuals who violated federal law, coordinating multiple-agency investigations, and prosecuting or defending all civil lawsuits or proceedings in which the United States was concerned. As United States Attorney, Mr. Bogden oversaw the fastest growing federal judicial district in the nation and geographically, the 7 th largest state in the United States which included 17 counties and the metropolitan areas of Las Vegas and Reno. As United States Attorney, Mr. Bogden oversaw a staff of 94 located in two offices, one in Las Vegas and the other in Reno.
